Melasma (also known as chloasma or the mask of pregnancy when present in pregnant women) is a tan or dark facial skin discoloration. Although it can affect anyone, melasma is particularly common in women, especially pregnant women and those who are taking oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications. It is also prevalent in men and women of Native American descent (on the forearms) and in men and women of German/Russian Jewish descent (on the face).
Here is an article which I found while searching Google
I have melasma and you do not cure it in a month. It took you a LOOOONNNGGG time to get your skin discolored why in the world would you expect it to go away in one month?
The discoloration can be lasered off just like a scar or birthmark. You may also take the drug Michael Jackson takes to remove the pigment from his skin...it removes ALL pigment...Then anything from a hot wind to a sauna can mark the return of the discoloration...
This is a continuing struggle and one time missing the sunscreen even on a cloudy day and there it is back on your face...wear makeup that is what most of us do...even the men.
BTW: 60 sunscreen is well and good but if it does not block ALL the types of sun's rays it is not going to do much good
